METROSIDEROS EXCELSA POHUTUKAWA plant in new zealand

METROSIDEROS EXCELSA - POHUTUKAWA

Nothing says NZ Christmas like a Pohutukawa in full flower! This is a medium or large sized spreading tree with either a central leader or multi branching. Oval leaves are a dark rich green with brilliant crimson red flowers and a rough dark brown bark. Red aerial roots can develop on the lower portion of the trunk over time. An essential part of the New Zealand summer, the Pohutukawa makes a great shade tree or a fantastic tree for the kids to climb. It is a good coastal tree that will tolerate most conditions.

Good Roots………

Roots are the anchors and feeding mechanism for a tree, if these are not right then the success of the tree is compromised.  What might look like a big strong tree may not be mirrored by it root system.  Icon Trees is one of the few nurseries that identify with this issue and dispose of these trees instead of growing them on to the next grade or supplying trees that will not successfully reach maturity.
