METROSIDEROS EXCELSA MISTRAL - MISTRAL POHUTUKAWA
A natural hybrid of Pohutakawa and Rata, Mistral forms to be a tidy upright growing tree. The characteristic of the rata makes it slower growing than excelsa cultivars and the Rata cross makes the leaf narrow, oval and pointed. Although flowering is not as prolific as excels, the flowers are an amazing deep scarlet red. Hardy to most conditions and soil types and can handle mild drought and coastal conditions.
