An icon of the New Zealand Landscape, it can be seen growing almost the length of the country. It has long sharp green leaves with a highly scented white flower and thick cork like bark. The head of the plant may fork with age creating multiple branches. Cabbage trees will grow in a range of soil type, being happy in a sheltered backyard or a coastal environment making it a very versatile tree for a wide range of planting applications.
